Midazolam (commonly known by the brand name Versed) is a fast-acting, short-duration benzodiazepine. It is primarily used for procedural sedation, pre-operative anxiety relief, insomnia, and the induction of general anesthesia. It is also highly effective in treating severe, prolonged seizures (status epilepticus).
